ROHM Develops CSL1104WB White Chip LED
High brightness of 2.0cd achieved in 1608 size


With the recent trend toward miniaturization of electronic devices, demand for high-density white chip LEDs is also increasing. In response, ROHM announced on the 5th the development of the "CSL1104WB," an ultra-compact, high-brightness white chip LED.

This LED achieves a high brightness of 2.0 cd in a 1608 size (1.6 mm x 0.8 mm = 1.28 ㎟). The current mainstream market size is 3528 (3.5 mm x 2.8 mm = 9.8 ㎟), but it achieves equivalent brightness in a size 87% smaller. Color deviation is also improved, enabling accurate white expression.

A ROHM official said that the white chip LED will be “compliant with the AEC-Q102 automotive optical semiconductor reliability standard so that it can be used in vehicles and industrial equipment with harsh usage environments.” The product began mass production this month with a monthly production capacity of 1 million units, and is available for purchase starting from one unit on online parts distribution sites.
