PTC Unveils Vuforia Engine Area Target
Support for building AR experiences on an area equivalent to six soccer fields
Creating a digital twin with a measurement level that is identical to reality


PTC announced today the addition of Vuforia Engine™ Area Targets to its enterprise augmented reality (AR) platform, Vuforia®. The new solution enables the creation of immersive AR experiences for facilities up to 300,000 square feet (ft2), an area equivalent to six soccer fields.

For example, if an AR environment is built within a factory, workers can easily use various machines and equipment, and operators can effectively understand how factory facilities are being utilized.

The Vuforia Engine Area Target supports 3D scanners from Matterport and Leica, and features an indoor mobile mapping system from NavVis.

Area Target creates a digital twin with a measurement-level, photorealistic scale. This enables the use of high-dimensional spatial computing-based applications, such as digital canvases, in various spaces such as smart factories, multiplexes, and offices. Spatial computing technology supports the work and environments of machines and people through digital twin rendering.
