Jupiter SE880 features an ultra-compact size in 4.7 x 4.7 mm plastic packaging and incorporates 3D-SiP (System-in-Package), the state-of-the-art technology in RF signal transmission applications, while being manufactured based on an environmentally-friendly design concept. By minimizing system noise, it enables stable position tracking even in weak signal environments, and with industry-leading sensitivity of 148 dBm, it reduces the cold start Time To First Fix (TTFF) to within 200 seconds. In addition, through high-performance integrated SAW filters and 2.4 GHz notch filters, it blocks radio interference in the most congested frequency bands, and features the ability to operate over a wide temperature range (-40°C to +85°C) compared to existing technologies. The SE880 supports SBAS (Satellite Based Augmentation System) and can store position tracking data in low-cost SPI flash memory. Additionally, it supports "1 SV Fast Time Setting" for consumer applications such as watches.
Dominikus Hierl, CMO of Telit, stated: "Jupiter SE880 is the result of the dedicated work of our engineering team. It is unprecedented for a complex RF design product to achieve higher sensitivity than the silicon that forms the product's foundation, and I am confident that SE880 is a product that provides powerful functionality for GPS receiver manufacturers who must make decisions between purchasing and manufacturing. The ability to easily apply the standard design anywhere in the world by engineers and SI vendors is also an important advantage."
Rich Pell, Technical Editor of EDN, said: "The selection of the 100 Hot Products, which has been conducted annually since 1993, is a very exciting task as an EDN editor. The products selected in 2012 not only reflect existing excellent key technologies but also reflect the latest industry trends in representative products of each category."
