TI Korea (President Kent Jeon, www.ti.com/ww/kr) January 11, 2013 - TI (President Kent Jeon) showcased at CES 2013 the TI DLP® product (Suite N115), a groundbreaking compact pixel architecture called TRP (Tilt & Roll Pixel) for the industry-leading DLP Pico™ technology. Through this enhanced product, developers can now implement distinctive robust large-screen display capabilities in a wider variety of devices and products than ever before.
Products based on the new TRP architecture offer the following advantages:
• Up to 30% superior brightness and efficiency
• Up to 50% reduced power consumption
• Achieve 2x resolution with the same size chip
Therefore, products implementing this architecture, including smartphones, tablets, cameras/camcorders, notebooks, glasses, and standalone devices, can benefit significantly in performance.
Frank Moizio, DLP Pico Business Manager at TI, stated, "Digital content has the advantage of being accessible anytime and anywhere without limitations." He continued, "DLP Pico technology enables large-screen implementation with compact devices, allowing users to maximize the utility of digital content and share it in their everyday real-life settings. Through TI's new pixel architecture, manufacturers can expand the scope of Pico technology to new compact devices, and superior brightness and high efficiency will enable the development of new applications."
According to PMA (Pacific Media Associates), a projector market research firm, the global Pico projector market is projected to reach 12 million units by 2016. Therefore, the popularity of this market is expected to rise rapidly. TI is currently collaborating with manufacturers to apply the new TRP architecture to their products.
