Fairchild Semiconductor's 2-Chip Single-Package Power Switch Product - Improved Efficiency and System Reliability
Published2013.01.17 11:18The highly integrated FSL1x series is a 2-chip single-package design that integrates a 650–800V SenseFET achieving robust avalanche characteristics and a current-mode PWM (pulse-width modulator). It is designed to reduce the number of components in offline SMPS and lower system costs. Additionally, the green-mode function of the PWM controller minimizes standby power consumption, enabling compliance with energy regulations worldwide.
These power switch products utilize Fairchild's vertical DMOS technology to achieve robust avalanche characteristics, enabling longer endurance in breakdown mode and achieving superior performance compared to competitor designs using lateral DMOS technology. The FPS product family can meet various input voltage requirements using a single platform design with maximum design flexibility, system productivity, and reliability, allowing for the design of both domestic and export models using a single design.
Compared to other discrete MOSFET and PWM controller solutions, the FSL1x series provides a platform that can significantly reduce total system cost and component count without compromising efficiency, productivity, or system reliability.
