San Jose, California, January 21, 2013 — Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) announced the launch of the MAX3601, a highly integrated 8-bit RGB laser driver for use in automotive pico laser projectors. The MAX3601 enables size reduction compared to conventional technology, achieves superior brightness, reduces solution cost, and enables implementation of clearer head-up display (HUD) images in automobiles.

This driver IC drives 3 RGB lasers to deliver superior brightness at low power. These high-intensity lasers project brighter and sharper images through the HUD, allowing drivers to conveniently receive information and improve safety. Additionally, the high level of integration enables battery life extension, reduced heat generation, and smaller module size.
