January 29, 2013 – Linear Technology Korea (CEO Hong Sa-kwak) announced the release of a 15dB amplifier (Product Name: LTC6430-15) that achieves a high dynamic range in 100-ohm differential environments ranging from 20 MHz to over 1 GHz. Two performance classes are available. At 240 MHz, Class A features an OIP3 performance of 50 dBm typ, with testing completed to guarantee a minimum of 47 dBm. The noise level is 3 dB, compliant with an input-reference amplifier noise of 1 nV/√Hz. DC power consumption is 800 mW. Through the combination of low noise and low distortion characteristics, it provides the wide dynamic range required for high-performance mid-frequency communications and CATV applications.

The LTC6430-15 is easy to use and provides absolute stability. Inputs and outputs are internally matched with a 100-ohm differential. Because it provides a linear output swing of 2.75 VP-P or more, this product is highly suitable for driving high-speed, high-performance ADCs.

To achieve a broadband 50-ohm balanced amplifier in communications applications, the only external components required are two 1:2 baluns, a DC blocking capacitor, and an RF bias choke. The LTC6430-15, equipped with two 1:1.33 baluns, can be used as a high-fidelity 75-ohm CATV amplifier. The P1dB is typically 24dBm.

The LTC6430-15 is available in a 4mm x 4mm QFN-24 package with exposed pads suitable for optimal thermal performance and low inductance. This product is specified to operate at case temperatures of -40°C to 85°C.
