IDT Launches Industry's First High-Performance Quad-Frequency MEMS Oscillator Product Providing Multiple Synchronous Outputs

IDT ( www.idt.com , Country Manager for Korea: Sang-Yup Lee) announced today the launch of the industry's first high-performance quad-frequency MEMS oscillator product that provides multiple synchronous outputs. Because IDT's new oscillator product provides configurable outputs with an industry-standard compatible package footprint, it can save board space and lower bill of materials (BOM) costs in communications, networking, storage, industrial, and FPGA applications.
IDT's enhanced 4E Series ±50ppm MEMS oscillator products integrate LVDS or LVPECL outputs with synchronous CMOS outputs into a single package, eliminating the need for external crystal oscillators or secondary oscillators. Available at frequencies up to 600MHz, these new oscillator products save board space, simplify application circuitry, and reduce BOM costs in any high-performance application requiring an LVDS or LVPECL frequency source. Furthermore, these oscillator products utilize two control pins to select from four pre-programmed output frequencies from different factories, allowing four separate components to be replaced by a single device. This enables customers to reduce BOMs, streamline parts lists, and lower costs.
Christian Kermarrec, Vice President and General Manager of IDT’s Timing and Synchronization Business Unit, stated, “IDT’s new CrystalFree™ MEMS oscillator products do not require additional crystal oscillators and bring significant benefits to our customers.” “With the 4E series, we are now able to provide the simplified design and cost-saving features that customers have consistently requested. Not only have we met these customer demands, but the new oscillator is also designed to be backward compatible with existing socket footprints, allowing customers to conveniently migrate to new devices,” he said.
IDT's 4E Series oscillator products are designed with the physical specifications and pinout of industry-standard 6-pin CMOS, LVDS, and LVPECL oscillators, but by strategically including four additional pins (for a total of 10 pins), they are made backward compatible with existing 6-pin sockets. Therefore, designers can use the new oscillator products with existing sockets and complete innovative designs using the added features.
System designers can effectively utilize innovative devices in various types of applications by selecting from three output combinations, such as LVDS and CMOS output, LVPECL and CMOS output, and three synchronous CMOS outputs.
Price and supply
IDT's new 4E Series MEMS oscillator products are currently being sampled with select customers and are available in a standard 7mm x 5mm VFQFPN package. Most standard frequencies are conveniently available. Custom frequencies can be configured upon order.
