January 31, 2013 – Linear Technology Korea (CEO Hong Sa-kwak) has launched a precision operational amplifier (product name: LTC6090) that operates at power supply voltages up to 140V (i.e., ±70V). The combination of performance features—including rail-to-rail output, 3pA input bias current, 1.6mV maximum input offset voltage, and 3.5µVP-P low-frequency noise—provides the precision required for high-performance ATE, piezo driver, and DAC buffer applications. With an enhanced slew rate of 19V, the output can swing 140V in less than 8µs. The gain bandwidth (GBP) is 10MHz.

The LTC6090 is optimized for both designs involving high-impedance inputs and designs sensitive to leakage current. In addition to the standard SO-8 package with exposed pads, the LTC6090 is also available in a TSSOP package with guard pins. This allows the guard ring to be easily routed around the input, providing complete enclosure.

Thermal performance is a challenge for all space-constrained high-voltage systems. The LTC6090 was designed with this challenge in mind. The power supply current is only 3.9 mA. The output current is ±10 mA typ. The thermal flag pin (TFLAG) signals when the device junction temperature exceeds 145°C. This pin can be connected to Output Disable for active thermal management. The TSSOP-16 and SOIC-8 package versions include exposed pads that can minimize thermal resistance.
