Anywhere Workspace, Providing a Multimodal Experience
VMware Simplifies Zero Trust Security


With the rise of remote work, it's becoming rare for companies to bring their workforce together in person like before.

On the 9th, VMware held an online press conference on the topic of 'VMware's support for today's distributed workforce' and announced that the 'VMware Anywhere Workspace' solution provides a 'multi-modal experience'.

“Multimodal refers to the way in which traditional infrastructure, software-based infrastructure, and application architectures are delivered in a hybrid manner,” said Shankar Iyer, senior vice president at VMware. “VMware Anywhere Workspace solution also provides more comprehensive and effective security in distributed edge environments.”

“VMware solution users can securely access the applications they want from any device,” said VP Iyer. “Anywhere Workspace provides intelligent management of workflow, compliance, and performance. “We will provide an automated work environment based on this, enabling the IT team to perform work in a modern and efficient manner,” he said.

Anywhere Workspace consists of ▲VMware Workspace ONE, which supports unified endpoint management, desktop and application virtualization, various employee experiences, productivity, and security features, ▲VMware Carbon Black Cloud, which provides cloud-based endpoint and workload security, and ▲VMware SASE, which combines SD-WAN capabilities with cloud security features such as cloud web security, Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), and firewall, and provides them as a service (as-a-service) at network points (PoPs) around the world.

◇ Security support suitable for global digital infrastructure and diverse work environments.

In the latter half of the meeting, Rick McElroy, Chief Cybersecurity Strategist at VMware Carbon Black, introduced the intelligent security innovation plan that VMware announced on the 3rd, saying, “VMware is helping enterprises better protect all control points and simplify zero-trust security to cope with the changing threat landscape.”

There are four measures in total: △Enhancing digital infrastructure visibility and control by simplifying zero-trust security, △Protecting the distributed work environment from cyberattacks through VMware Anywhere Workspace, △Providing 'VMware NSX Service-defined Firewall' to protect the large amount of east/west network traffic flowing into the data center, and △VMware Carbon Black Cloud. Protecting public cloud and on-premises Kubernetes environments through containers and VMware Modern Application Connectivity.

“VMware Modern Application Connectivity provides operators with a unified service that allows them to centrally manage end-to-end application traffic routing, resiliency, and security across multi-site environments and clouds,” said McElroy.
