Added SaaS-based Vuforia Instruct
Accelerating the production of 3D CAD-based 'AR work instructions'


PTC announced on the 10th that it has added a new software-as-a-service (SaaS)-based AR offering, Vuforia Instruct, to its Vuforia Enterprise AR Suite. Vuforia Instruct is an offering available on the PTC Atlas platform, and it allows companies to easily create, deliver, extend, and optimize interactive AR training materials using 3D CAD data.

Approximately 67% of manufacturers are adopting a manual method using ground for inspection work, but this method has several limitations, including the risk of errors, difficulty in recording, and high costs. Inefficiencies that arise during this process degrade product quality and experience, leading to loss of brand reputation, customer satisfaction, and revenue.

“Work instructions created with Vuforia Instruct have enabled us to increase the proficiency of our technical staff as well as our customers’ employees,” said Alexander Ouellet, Innovation Engineer at Harpak-ULMA Packaging. “AR technology improves the accuracy and timeliness of complex manual processes.”

“With this offering, companies can leverage existing 3D CAD data to route workers to the exact location where work will be performed and guide them through the proper inspection,” said Michael Campbell, vice president and general manager of AR products at PTC. “This increases productivity, improves quality, and reduces unplanned downtime.”

Meanwhile, PTC Korea is collaborating with Platinum Partner DigiTech, E3PS, and domestic authorized distributor Demoa to enable manufacturing industry customers to widely utilize AR technology.
