Seoul, February 26, 2013 – Infineon Technologies (Korea Representative Director Seung-soo Lee) announced that it has begun supplying power semiconductors using 300mm thin-film wafers. Infineon has commenced production after verifying the entire process of the advanced 300mm production line and has received orders from customers for CoolMOS™ products manufactured on the 300mm line.

Infineon is the industry's first and only company to produce power semiconductors using 300mm thin-film wafers. Because 300mm thin-film wafers have a wider diameter than standard 200mm wafers, they can produce 2.5 times more chips per wafer. Infineon's power semiconductors feature low energy loss and a compact design. These chips are electrically operational on both the front and back sides, despite being only slightly thicker than paper, a structure based on thin-film wafer technology.

According to research by IMS Research (a subsidiary of IHS), Infineon maintained its position as the world's number one in the power semiconductor market for the ninth consecutive year last year.
