TI Launches Industry's First 48V COT (Constant On-Time) Synchronous Step-Down Converter for Automotive and Industrial Applications

TI Korea (CEO Kent Chon, www.ti.com/ww/kr ) March 8, 2013 – TI (CEO Kent Chon) announced the release of three 48V synchronous buck regulators for single and multi-output power supplies featuring integrated high-side and low-side MOSFETs. The 650mA LM25017, 300mA LM25018, and 100mA LM25019 Fly-Buck converters feature a constant-on-time (COT) architecture that reduces board space by up to 40% compared to traditional designs requiring multiple DC/DC converters. By using the Fly-Buck converters with TI's award-winning WEBENCH® online design tool, high-voltage DC/DC for industrial and automotive systems can be designed quickly and easily. The LM25017, LM25018, and LM25019 drive non-isolated voltage regulators and multi-output solutions with a high input voltage of 48V. Pin-compatible LLP and PSOP packaging provide scalable solutions to meet various power requirements. All flybuck converters can be configured to provide positive or negative voltage rails or to enable isolated multiple outputs with excellent cross-regulation.
The flybuck converter is pin-to-pin compatible with the wide input voltage range regulator family, including the 100V, 600mA LM5017, 300mA LM5018, and 100mA LM5019. Additionally, for designers using 3.3V or 5V input sources or requiring isolation voltages of up to 2W, TI offers the high-efficiency TPS55010 flybuck converter with primary-side regulation (PSR). Price, Package, and Supply Time
The latest Flybuck converters are currently available for bulk orders from TI and TI authorized distributors. They are available in thermally enhanced 8-pin LLP and PSOP packages, with unit prices for the LM25017, LM25018, and LM25019 at $1.25, $1.12, and $1, respectively, based on 1,000-unit quantities. AECQ-100 certified versions are scheduled to be available in May 2013.

ST Launches 75V Drive IC Targeting 48V Industrial Motor Driving
ST Microelectronics has unveiled the 'STSPIN9P' series of 75V motor drive ICs tailored for 48V-class industrial drive system design. The new product family is characterized by half-bridge and full-bridge configurations that enable design scalability according to motor type and output conditions. Power supply circuits, protection functions, and current sensing circuits are integrated on-chip to simplify system configuration, and the devices are designed to support applications up to 500W maximum.
