TI Launches Latest Tiva™ C Series ARM® Cortex™-M4 Microcontrollers for Connected Applications
TI Korea (CEO Kent Chon, www.ti.com/ww/kr ) April 18, 2013 – TI (CEO Kent Chon), a leader in microcontroller technology and ARM®-based processor development for over 20 years, announced the launch of its new Tiva™ ARM® MCU platform. The Tiva C Series TM4C123x ARM Cortex-M4 MCU, the first device of the new platform, is the first Cortex-M-based MCU built on 65-nanometer flash process technology, presenting a new roadmap of high speed, expanded memory, and low power. Previously known as the Stellaris® LM4F MCU, the Tiva C Series TM4C123x MCU is already in mass production and is suitable for home, building, and industrial automation systems. Built on common software libraries, the Tiva MCU can be easily migrated to future Tiva ARM products to support a wide range of connected applications.

Tools, software, training, and support
Tiva C Series MCUs simplify complex development and design by coming with easy-to-use development tools, software, training, and support. TivaWare™ for C Series MCUs enables “OS-free” software development, allowing novice developers to quickly get started with designs. TI-RTOS, a real-time operating system, unifies development across all TI MCUs, facilitating convenient migration between devices while preserving the effort invested in existing code development. It is also compatible with the latest version of the Code Composer Studio™ v.5 IDE (integrated development environment). In addition to the software provided by TI, software and application solutions from numerous Design Network member companies, including IAR Networks, are available. Furthermore, TI offers online MCU training, and support is available through TI Korea or the E2E community.

The Tiva C Series TM4C123x MCU is available for as low as $2.15 per unit in 10,000-unit quantities. The EK-TM4C123GXL Tiva ARM C Series LaunchPad is currently available for $12.99. TI’s extensive ARM processor portfolio provides optimized hardware (over 500 ARM products ranging from $1 items to speeds of 5GHz), software, and development tools for use in various industries. Tiva C Series devices equipped with Ethernet capabilities are scheduled for future release.
