USB-IF (USB Implementers Forum), which supports the advancement and popularization of USB technology, has created a new official USB Type-C cable logo, providing consumers with a trustworthy branding solution.

USB-IF recently unveiled a new certified USB Type-C® cable power rating logo that provides consumers with a clear indication of the power capabilities of a USB-C® cable.

Certified USB Type-C cables will have a new logo that highlights their support for 60W or 240W of power as defined by the recently announced USB Power Delivery (PD) 3.1 specification.

Along with this, the certified USB4™ logo has also been updated. The goal is to unify branding across the Certified USB Logo Program so consumers can easily recognize the performance and robustness capabilities of Certified USB cables, hosts, terminals, and chargers.

“USB-IF is strengthening and simplifying our Certified Logo Program for end users by supporting higher power capabilities with the USB PD 3.1 specification which can support up to 240W over USB Type-C cables and connectors,” said Jeff Ravencraft, USB-IF President and COO.

He also said, “The logo refresh will make it easier for consumers to recognize the USB4 performance and USB charging capabilities of certified USB-C cables,” adding, “This will support the rapidly expanding ecosystem of consumer electronics products, from laptops to smartphones, displays and chargers.”

Meanwhile, USB Type-C is a 24-pin USB terminal system that allows the transfer of data and power. The terminals are the same on both sides, so they can be inserted in reverse.

Due to this convenience and compatibility, its use is increasing in smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc., and its use is expected to be expanded to various electronic devices in the future.
