TI Launches Next-Generation Automotive LED Driver for Dashboard Applications with Industry-Leading Voltage Rating
Published2013.06.12 11:05TI Korea (CEO Kent Chon, www.ti.com/ww/kr) June 4, 2013 – TI (CEO Kent Chon) has launched a next-generation AEC-Q100 certified automotive LED driver featuring industry-leading voltage rating, thermal shutdown protection, and optimized EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) performance. Electronic devices exposed to demanding automotive environments face the challenge of withstanding high temperatures, overvoltage, and electromagnetic interference. In particular, it is critical to reduce electromagnetic emissions while maintaining durability. The TLC6C598-Q1 and TLC6C5912-Q1 are monolithic medium voltage, low current 8-bit/12-bit shift registers designed to suit systems requiring relatively moderate load power, such as LEDs. The TLC6C598-Q1 and TLC6C5912-Q1 are ideal for automotive dashboard applications such as tell-tale warning lamps, instrument clusters, LED lighting and control. Key Features and Benefits of TLC6C598-Q1 and TLC6C5912-Q1
• High voltage rating: The TLC6C598-Q1 and TLC6C5912-Q1 provide a high voltage rating of up to 40V across all outputs. The TLC6C598-Q1 can drive up to 8 LED strings connected directly to automotive batteries, while the TLC6C5912-Q1 can drive up to 12 LED strings
• Thermal shutdown protection: The TLC6C598-Q1 and TLC6C5912-Q1 protect devices from heat generated by power consumption through thermal shutdown protection, ensuring stable performance over extended periods in high or low temperature conditions
• Optimized EMC performance: The TLC6C598-Q1 and TLC6C5912-Q1 control and optimize rise and fall times at the outputs to reduce electromagnetic radiation

The TLC6C598-Q1 is available in 16-pin SOIC-D and TSSOP-PW packages with a recommended consumer price of $0.5 based on 2,500-unit volume. The TLC6C5912-Q1 is available in 20-pin SOIC and TSSOP packages with a recommended consumer price of $0.7 based on 2,500-unit volume. Both products are currently available for order.

ST Launches 75V Drive IC Targeting 48V Industrial Motor Driving
ST Microelectronics has unveiled the 'STSPIN9P' series of 75V motor drive ICs tailored for 48V-class industrial drive system design.
