Infineon Launches FlexRay Transceiver IC for High-Speed In-Vehicle Communication

June 28, 2013 – Linear Technology Korea (CEO Hong Sa-gwak) announced the launch of the LTM4649, a 10A step-down µModule® regulator in a 9mm x 15mm x 4.92mm BGA (ball grid array) package that provides higher operating efficiency and lower temperature rise characteristics. The LTM4649 requires no heat sink or airflow at maximum power delivery in ambient temperatures of 0ºC to 83ºC, operates with no output current derating and at peak efficiency of 86% (at 10A, 5VIN–12VIN, 1.5VOUT). Output current decreases to only 4A at a maximum ambient temperature of 100ºC, and to 2A at 400LFM. The LTM4649 reduces input power in the range of 4.5V to 16V to output voltage in the range of 0.6V to 3.3V. The LTM4649 features a differential remote sense amplifier that can compensate for voltage droop due to circuit board trace impedance and regulates load voltage with +/- 1.5% accuracy across the entire line, load, and temperature range (-40ºC to 125ºC).
The LTM4649 provides input and output clocks for accurate current sharing in multiphase operation across multiple devices for loads up to 40A maximum. Multiphase operation not only reduces input and output ripple but also decreases the number of input and output capacitors. Applications include communications, industrial, aerospace, and test equipment requiring PoL (point-of-load) conversion at 12V or 5V input.
The LTM4649 can be synchronized to an external clock in the frequency range of 400kHz to 750kHz. Since options are provided for Burst Mode® operation for maximum conversion efficiency at light load and pulse-skip operation for lower output voltage ripple, this product offers users options to tailor circuit performance. The LTM4649 permits output voltage tracking to sequence different voltages in the system. To protect the load side, the LTM4649 features output overvoltage and overcurrent protection.
