July 3, 2013 - QuickLogic Corporation, a leading provider of ultra-low-power CSSP (Customer Specific Standard Products), announced that it has established a subsidiary in Bundang, Gyeonggi Province to support its growing custom and catalog CSSP business in the expanding Asia region. Through this subsidiary establishment, QuickLogic expects to accelerate the integration of CSSP solutions into mobile products such as tablets and smartphones by enabling field sales, customer solution developers, and FAEs to work more closely with customers in solution development.
According to IDC, an IT market analysis and research firm, global tablet sales in 2013 are projected to reach 229 million units, a 59% increase compared to 2012. This strong growth trend is being driven by Android-based systems, including tablets manufactured by Korean and Taiwanese companies. IDC projects that a total of 959 million smartphones will be sold this year, representing a 33% increase compared to last year. Within this, the Korean market alone achieved shipments of 70 million units in the first quarter of 2013.
