Markforged Accelerates 3D Printing in Aerospace and Automotive

Markforged, developer of the integrated platform "Digital Forge" for metal and carbon fiber additive manufacturing, is accelerating innovation in 3D printing solutions for aerospace and automotive sectors.
Markforged announced on the 22nd the launch of its new 3D printer FX20 and ULTEM™ 9085 filament material.
ULTEM™ 9085 filament is a flame-retardant, high-performance, thermoplastic material that, when combined with Markforged's proprietary continuous fiber reinforcement technology, enables the production of parts meeting demanding requirements such as high strength, high heat resistance, and high performance in challenging industries including aerospace, defense, automotive, oil and gas.
Markforged stated that the FX20 is the largest, fastest, smartest, and most innovative in terms of throughput and speed among printers manufactured by Markforged, enabling rapid production of even large-scale parts.
Additionally, based on precisely designed sensors, parts can be produced with a single click whenever needed.
The FX20 features a heated build chamber capable of maintaining temperatures up to 200°C and supports printing sizes up to 525mm x 400mm x 400mm. It is up to 8 times faster than existing composite material printers and can print parts 5 times larger than the existing Markforged X7 printer.
Because rapid, accurate, and robust part production is possible on demand, combining ULTEM™ 9085 filament with Markforged's proprietary continuous fiber reinforcement technology enables efficient transformation of the entire manufacturing process.
Vestas Wind System A/S, a global leader in sustainable energy solutions, has also adopted Markforged's FX20 and ULTEM™ 9085 filament with continuous fiber reinforcement capabilities and plans to produce stronger and larger-scale parts through 3D printing.
Jeremy Heit, chief engineer at Vestas, stated, "After adopting Digital Forge, we were able to make changes to many existing costly, complex, and time-consuming manufacturing processes." He added, "Iteratively designed components become obsolete within 1-2 years. However, using the FX20 and ULTEM™ 9085 filament ensures excellence and durability, enabling us to rapidly print larger and more robust parts tailored to our specific needs."
Additionally, manufacturers using ULTEM™ 9085 filament with continuous fiber reinforcement capabilities can further expand the advantages of additive manufacturing technology. Adding FX20 to the Digital Forge platform enables application to more requirements and applications than before.

Markforged announced that FX20 and ULTEM™ 9085 filament will be supplied globally from the second half of 2022. In Korea, advance purchase reservations are available through Markforged's official partners.
Meanwhile, Markforged participated in the FormNext 2021 event held in Germany from November 16-19 and unveiled the FX20 for the first time, receiving significant interest from participants.

Ecolab Expands AI Data Center Cooling Business Through Acquisition of CoolIT
Ecolab has agreed to acquire CoolIT Systems, a liquid cooling company for AI data centers, for approximately $4.75 billion. The transaction is expected to close by Q3 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. CoolIT has been supplying direct-to-chip cooling-based coolant distribution units, cold plates, and manifolds, serving hyperscale data centers and colocation operators as customers. This acquisition is a measure to address the high-heat and high-density server environments created by AI proliferation. Ecolab plans to combine its water management and digital monitoring capabilities with CoolIT's hardware technology to expand its data center cooling business.
