Local industry, academia, and research institutes have joined hands to help auto parts companies transform into future vehicles.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (Minister Moon Seung-wook) and Daegu Metropolitan City (Mayor Kwon Young-jin) held a ceremony to declare the vision for future vehicle transformation of local auto parts companies at the Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology Convention Hall on the 5th.

At the declaration ceremony, Daegu City's future vehicle conversion promotion plan was announced and a future vehicle conversion council MOU was signed.

The MOU was signed by 18 organizations including the Intelligent Automotive Parts Promotion Agency, Korea Automotive Research Institute Daegyeong Branch, Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Daegyeong Branch, Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute Daegyeong Research Center, Kyungpook National University, Keimyung University, Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology, Yeungnam College of Science and Technology, Yeungjin College, Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology, SMEs and Startups Agency Daegu Branch, Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Daegu Center for Creative Economy and Innovation, Daegu Technopark, Daegu Machinery Parts Research Institute, Daegu Digital Industry Promotion Agency, Daegu Bank, and Daegu Credit Guarantee Foundation.

Through the MOU, they promised to communicate closely on the transition to future vehicles.

The following announcement from Daegu City included the opening of the Daegu Future Vehicle Conversion Comprehensive Support Center, establishment of an online one-stop support platform, and support for technology development and commercialization.

Park Jae-young, Director General of Manufacturing Industry Policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, said, “We will actively cooperate with local governments to operate future vehicle transition support centers and build future vehicle infrastructure, such as testing equipment, so that local parts companies can accelerate their transition to future vehicles.”
