A support program is being launched to resolve the difficulties of simultaneously conducting certifications and tests required by overseas countries and associations.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (hereinafter the Ministry) supports the '2022 Technology Development Project for Products Compliant with Overseas Certification Standards' to develop products that meet the certification standards of exporting countries for entry into overseas markets.

This project supports the strengthening of export competitiveness for small and medium-sized enterprises by providing support for new product technology development.

The main contents of the technology development project for products compliant with overseas certification standards are the 'Overseas Certification Review Committee' and 'technology development'.

The Overseas Certification Review Committee reviews overseas certifications required by SMEs for export among various certifications by country and sector.

During the evaluation, members of the review committee or recommended experts participate as evaluation committee members to select R&D performing companies that need to obtain overseas certification.

In the technology development phase, support is provided for the technology development of products compliant with overseas certification standards by reviewing technology development methods, commercialization plans, and the feasibility of obtaining overseas certifications.

The support scale is 7.65 billion won, supporting 51 new projects.

Eligible recipients are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as defined in Article 2 of the Framework Act on Small and Medium Enterprises that are exporting (or planning to export) and require the development of products compliant with overseas certifications.

Last year, the competition rate for this project was high at 5.86 to 1.

Applications for the 2022 Technology Development Project for Products Compliant with Overseas Certification Standards can be submitted through the 'Inter-Ministerial Integrated Research Support System (www.iris.go.kr)' from January 24 to February 11.
