STMicroelectronics Launches Cutting-Edge Virtual Sound Lab 'Audio Processor Workbench'

STMicroelectronics unveiled the state-of-the-art virtual audio lab, 'Audio Processor Workbench'.
Audio Processor Workbench provides advanced audio design and evaluation capabilities for using ST’s SoundTerminal™ audio chips and digital MEMS microphones, and can be downloaded for free from www.st.com/apworkbench .
The Audio Processor Workbench is the first solution capable of comprehensively evaluating the entire audio and acoustic sector, ranging from microphones and sound amplifiers to output speakers. Going beyond a typical graphical user interface (GUI) app used for device configuration, it offers a variety of features typically found only in high-end test devices.
When designing new A/V equipment, multimedia PCs, smartphones, tablets, or docking systems, it can be utilized to evaluate the entire audio subsystem, verify the performance of individual components, and perform configuration and tuning. Furthermore, its ease of use and simplicity help complete tuning tasks within minutes.
Andrea Onetti, Business General Manager of ST’s Analog and Audio Systems division, said, “The audio processor workbench not only provides the best value during design but is also highly cost-effective in production testing and quality. ST has incorporated lessons learned from collaborating with customers in the digital audio sector to provide the capabilities needed to develop new products with exceptional audio performance.”
In addition, customized support for ST MEMS microphones significantly enhances audio system design capabilities, enabling the easy implementation of advanced features such as voice recognition and noise cancellation in new products.
