Total Revenue Up 30% Year-over-Year from 2020
QCT Business Unit Revenue $8.847 Billion

U.S. semiconductor company Qualcomm achieved $10.7 billion in revenue for the fourth quarter of last year, driven by strong demand for 5G smartphones and automotive applications.

Qualcomm announced its 2021 fourth quarter results on the 2nd local time. According to the results, Qualcomm continued its growth trajectory amid strong semiconductor demand, recording total revenue of $10.705 billion for the 2021 fourth quarter.

This represents a 30% increase compared to the same period in 2020, with a growth rate of 60%.

QCT, the chip business unit, achieved $8.847 billion, while QTL, the licensing business unit, achieved $1.818 billion.

Growth rates by business unit were 35% for QCT and 10% for QTL.

Handsets within QCT showed 42% growth, recording $6 billion in revenue.

Qualcomm stated that "the key factor was a 60% growth in Snapdragon chipsets used in Android products."

Additionally, RF front-end grew 7% to $1.1 billion, the automotive sector grew 21% to $256 million, and IoT grew 41% to $1.5 billion in revenue.

Cristiano Amon, CEO of Qualcomm, announced that "the chip market is expected to expand more than sevenfold within 10 years, reaching a scale of $700 billion," and stated that "both mobile and intelligent edge segments will be mapped out in Qualcomm's roadmap."
