u-blox has secured certification for LG U+'s LTE-M network, claiming the title of the first product to receive certification from a domestic telecommunications carrier.

u-blox announced on the 17th that its SARA-R510M8S-71B module has obtained certification for LG U+'s LTE-M network.

This module, based on the UBX-R5, a low power wide area (LPWA) chipset designed in-house by u-blox, is the first product to receive certification from a domestic telecommunications carrier.

The SARA-R5 series is designed for LPWA IoT applications such as industrial automation, sensor applications, connected health, metering, asset and vehicle tracking, and telematics.

By developing all technical function blocks using proprietary technology and securing ownership of the entire hardware and software, u-blox is able to guarantee long-term availability for devices and provide continuous support for the entire platform down to the chipset level.

Samuele Falcomer, Senior Product Manager at u-blox Cellular Product Center, stated, “We are pleased that the SARA-R5 has now received certification in Korea as well,” adding, “The SARA-R5 series provides an unrivaled level of security through a Root of Trust (RoT) embedded in a hardware-based security element and a Key Management System (KMS) highly optimized for low-band LPWA applications.”

SARA-R51The 0M8S integrates the u-blox M8 GNSS receiver with a separate GNSS antenna interface to provide very stable and accurate location data along with LTE communication.

This module has already received Microsoft Azure certification and AWS IoT Core certification.

u-blox's certificate lifecycle control facilitates zero-touch provisioning for cloud platforms and simplifies IoT certificate renewal management.
