Samsung Electronics, in collaboration with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, is providing emergency support for manufacturers to build smart factories to expand the domestic supply of COVID-19 self-diagnosis kits, contributing to resolving the shortage of self-diagnosis kits.

Samsung Electronics announced that it has dispatched 19 experts in building smart factories to GenBody, a self-diagnosis kit manufacturer located in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province. In addition, manufacturing experts were dispatched to Suzentech.

This support is expected to contribute to: △a 30% increase in productivity through reduction of work hours per facility; △efficient logistics management such as production line relocation and introduction of inventory management system; △support for mold, injection, and printing technologies of Genbody's partner companies; and △early stabilization of Genbody's new factory.

Samsung Electronics announced that it has worked to revitalize the local economy and create jobs through mutual growth with small and medium-sized enterprises through the 'Smart Factory Construction Support Project', a manufacturing environment improvement project for small and medium-sized enterprises in 2015.

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics contributed to overcoming the crisis by increasing productivity of related products through its smart factory construction project during the worsening COVID-19 situation.

The main contents include: △ Contributing to resolving the mask crisis, △ Expanding global exports of COVID-19 diagnostic kits, and △ Establishing a mass production system for LDS syringes to serve as leverage in negotiations for the early introduction of the Pfizer vaccine.

Samsung Electronics also announced that it donated a total of 30 billion won in relief supplies and funds to the National Disaster Relief Association to help medical staff, those in self-quarantine, confirmed cases, children, teenagers, and vulnerable groups who are struggling due to COVID-19.

The government announced that it has joined the national effort to overcome COVID-19, including providing residential treatment centers and dispatching specialized medical staff when hospital beds are in short supply due to the surge in COVID-19 patients.
