Supports VESA and DisplayPort UHBR certifications

VESA-certified DP40 and DP80 UHBR cables ensure the highest level of display connectivity and operation introduced in DisplayPort 2.0.
VESA® (Video Electronics Standards Association) has announced a certification program for various video sources, displays, and cable products that support DisplayPort UHBR (ultra-high bit rate), a faster data link rate defined in DisplayPort standard version 2.0, and is taking steps to ensure the highest level of display connectivity and operation.
VESA announced on the 7th that it is launching a certification program through the DisplayPort UHBR certification program, which allows device and cable manufacturers to send their newly developed products to an official DisplayPort Test Center (ATC) for testing and obtain certification.
Because UHBR supports higher bandwidth, it can enable various use cases such as uncompressed 8K 60Hz HDR, 4K 240Hz HDR, two 4K 120Hz HDR displays, or four 4K 60Hz HDR displays over a single cable.

These cable products ensure display connection and operation with the highest level of performance introduced in DisplayPort 2.0.
A VESA-certified DP40 cable must be able to provide a throughput of up to 40Gbps by supporting the maximum UHBR10 link rate (10Gbps) and 4-lane operation defined by DisplayPort 2.0.
In addition, VESA-certified DP80 cables support a maximum throughput of 80Gbps through the maximum UHBR20 link rate (20Gbps) defined by DisplayPort 2.0 and 4 lane support.
In addition, VESA-certified DP80 cables also support the UHBR 13.5 link rate (13.5Gbps) defined by DisplayPort 2.0.
James Choate, Certification Program Manager at VESA, said, “UHBR of the DisplayPort 2.0 standard enables a new level of display performance and user experience. The UHBR certification program will accelerate the adoption of high-performance video and display products across the ecosystem. Just like the various previous VESA certification programs that enabled the widespread adoption of DisplayPort Alt Mode, DisplayHDR specifications and standards, and products supporting DisplayPort HBR3 bit rates, we expect this UHBR certification program to achieve successful results.”

라이선스 대행업체 MPEG LA, LLC는 디스플레이포트 특허 포트폴리오 라이선스(DisplayPort Patent Portfolio License) 범위가 16년 3월 VESA 디스플레이포트 표준 ver1.4 를 포함하도록 업데이트 됐다고 발표했다. 디스플레이포트 특허 포트폴리오 라이선스는 디스플레이포트 사용자 편의를 위해 제공되는 것으로 사용자가 복수의 특허권자가 가진 필수 특허에 대해 각각의 라이선스 보유자와 협상하는 대신 이를 하나의 라이선스에 통합해 사용권을 취득할 수 있도록 해준다.

Samsung Electronics' QLED gaming monitor receives HDR certification from VESA.
삼성전자의 QLED 게이밍 모니터 CHG90과 CHG70이 영상전자표준위원회(Video Electronics Standards Association, 이하 VESA)로부터 HDR 디스플레이 표준 인증을 받았다. HDR(High Dynamic Range)은 영상과 사진의 밝은 부분은 더 밝게, 어두운 부분은 더 어둡게 명암을 최적화해 보다 생생하고 자연스럽게 보여 주는 고화질 기술이다. TV와 달리 PC모니터·노트북 디스플레이의 HDR 성능에 대한 기준 규격이 없었으나, VESA가 이달 11일 해당 제품군을 테스트 하고 3가지 등급(DisplayHDR 400·600·1000)을 부여하는 표준 규격 인증 프로그램을 업계에 내놨다.

Ecolab Expands AI Data Center Cooling Business Through Acquisition of CoolIT
Ecolab has agreed to acquire CoolIT Systems, a liquid cooling company for AI data centers, for approximately $4.75 billion. The transaction is expected to close by Q3 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. CoolIT has been supplying direct-to-chip cooling-based coolant distribution units, cold plates, and manifolds, serving hyperscale data centers and colocation operators as customers. This acquisition is a measure to address the high-heat and high-density server environments created by AI proliferation. Ecolab plans to combine its water management and digital monitoring capabilities with CoolIT's hardware technology to expand its data center cooling business.
