August 6, 2013 – Wolfson Microelectronics Korea (CEO Seung-Hyun Park, www.wolfsonmicro.com ), a global leader in the design and development of mixed-signal semiconductor solutions for consumer electronics, announced the release of Ez2 listen™ as a new addition to its latest software collection, Ez2 software.

The newly released Ez2 Listen is implemented on Wolfson's existing hardware platforms, such as the HD Audio Hub, enabling cinema-level, rich, high-quality sound in mobile device applications on smartphones and tablet PCs.

Wolfson’s Ez2 Listen features various sound quality enhancement functions, such as 5.1ch virtual surround sound for speakers and headphones, bass and treble boost, and a multi-band compressed sound equalizer, which can provide up to 7 dB (decibels) of additional volume in music, movies, and games by enhancing the output of the device while maintaining sound quality and not being limited by the performance of the speakers.

In addition, the combination of Wolfson's Audio Hub and Audio DSP (audio digital signal processor) reduces power consumption, enabling music playback even while the main application processor is in power-saving mode, thereby maximizing battery life.

Stephen Evans, Vice President of Software at Wolfson, explained, “Because the usable space for speakers on mobile devices is limited, users were consequently forced to listen to poor sound quality when listening to music or watching movies or playing games. Existing solutions released to address this problem also accelerated battery drain, and the overall cost of materials was burdensome for both manufacturers and consumers.”
