Joining Google Cloud… Maximizing Security Enhancement

Google accelerates its cloud business by acquiring cybersecurity firm Mandiant, beating out Microsoft.

Google announced on the 8th that it is acquiring Mandiant for $23 per share, for a total of $5.4 billion.

This is a price with a premium of about 57% over the average stock price from February 7 to 10.

Google Cloud, the third-largest player in the industry following Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft's Azure, is interpreted to mean that through this acquisition, it intends to differentiate itself in the cloud market with customized security services for each client and gain a competitive edge.

Once the final contract is concluded, Mandiant plans to join Google Cloud to contribute to strengthening security.

Through this acquisition, Google has been able to secure an end-to-end security operations suite that includes cybersecurity consulting, threat detection, and digital defense testing.

Mandiant responds to thousands of cyber breaches every year with over 600 consultants.

It also operates 'Mandiant Advantage,' an XDR platform that combines insights from over 300 intelligence analysts, and was the first to discover the SolarWinds attack that compromised computers across the U.S. federal government in late 2020.
