This high-performance direct-time-of-flight (dToF) sensor offers a 5-meter detection range, and the device's multi-lens array significantly expands the illumination range.

The TMF8820 and TMF8821 sensors, along with the TMF8828 sensor, are available from Mouser Electronics and are manufactured using a single-photon detector diode (SPAD) array, a time-to-digital converter (TDC), and histogram technology.

The sensor features a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL), and the SPAD's high-quality lens provides a dynamically adjustable field of view of up to 63°.

This versatile sensor provides highly accurate measurements for target area detection in multiple areas.

The sensor can also detect multiple objects within a single area, allowing automated robots to see more objects and provide early warning of potential obstacles.

ams Osram's TMF8820, TMF8821 and TMF8828 sensors are chipIt processes all raw data and the device reports both distance information and confidence values via an I²C interface.

Housed in a single, compact modular package, this sensor supports a wide range of applications, including laser autofocus for mobile phone cameras, object detection and collision avoidance, object detection, and light curtain applications for industrial safety designs.
