September 11, 2013 – Anritsu Company announced the expansion of its VectorStar product family of VNA (Vector Network Analyzer) products by launching the MS4640B series, which provides state-of-the-art pulse measurement and true-mode stimulation performance, at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Samseong-dong, introduced by Bob Buxton, Marketing Manager of the General Purpose Business Unit.
The MS4640B offers numerous new advanced measurement capabilities, including PulseView, which provides pulse profiling, point-in-pulse, pulse-to-pulse measurements of S-parameters, and DifferentialView for true-mode stimulated S-parameter measurements. These features enable engineers to address challenges related to testing and characterizing components and subsystems designed for today's high-speed serial applications, including radar.
PulseView enables design engineers and component manufacturers in the aerospace and defense industries to accurately test and characterize designs under pulsed conditions. With an industry-leading 2.5 ns resolution across a 100 dB dynamic range, it comes with a proprietary measurement gate to deliver results of exceptional clarity. This product allows users to examine small changes in performance not only at rising/trailing edges but also within pulses that have already been missed by other systems. The industry-leading capture time of 500 ms enables users to measure under conditions of long pulse repetition intervals or perform pulse-to-pulse measurements over numerous pulses.

The additional essential IF digitizer option provides high-speed digitization capabilities suitable for the PulseView application as well as the four internal pulse generators. The pulse generators can be used to modularize the DUT (device under test) or one of the related module test set series. These features are complemented by a groundbreaking graphical interface that simplifies the measurement setup and increases user confidence that measurements are being taken under accurate conditions.
DifferentialView provides engineers developing differential amplifiers or signal integrity engineers performing high-speed serial designs with the ability to evaluate designs under true-mode signal input conditions by utilizing internal optional secondary sources. Through an innovative GUI, engineers can establish changes and view immediate results without the hassle of navigating screen display crossovers. When using DifferentialView with Anritsu's 4-port test set, the user can measure differential common mode and mixed mode S parameters.
The MS4640B possesses all the advantages unique to the VectorStar platform. VectorStar provides high-performance measurement capabilities that reduce frequencies to as low as 70 kHz, achieving the high-precision S-parameter measurements accurately required for model devices in simulation applications. This product ensures excellent DC-term measurements and achieves high-quality low-frequency data that improves causality.
VectorStar VNA is available in frequency ranges from 70 kHz to 20, 40, 50, and 70 GHz, and can also be used in broadband systems from 70 kHz to 125 GHz. Depending on the specific frequency range, VectorStar can also provide frequency coverage up to 750 GHz with mm waveform modules from VDI (Virginia Diodes, Inc.) or OML (OML, Inc.).
This product does not apply to the previous MS4046A model, and Pulse View and Differential View are available as options only on the MS4640B.
