The Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Lim Hye-sook, hereinafter 'MSIT') is working to strengthen the cybersecurity immunity of small and medium-sized enterprises by providing the 'My Server Caretaker' service together with the Korea Internet & Security Agency (President Lee Won-tae, hereinafter 'KISA').

The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that, together with KISA, it will launch the 'My Server Caretaker' service on the KISA Protection Nara website (boho.or.kr) starting from the 1st, which remotely checks for security vulnerabilities in corporate servers of small and medium-sized enterprises.

According to the results of ransomware reports received by KISA, the number of reported damages over the past year (March 2021 to February 2022) was 246, a 71% increase compared to the same period of the previous year (March 2020 to February 2021, 144 cases), and it was found that 92% (226 cases) of all ransomware attacks were concentrated on small and medium-sized enterprises.

He added that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) often lack personnel and budget investment in the information security sector, and frequently lack separate security policies.

This remote security inspection system checks for security vulnerabilities in a company's information system operating environment, particularly in key servers connected to the outside.

Meanwhile, it was announced that starting in July, there are plans to provide a self-diagnostic tool to enable companies receiving the 'My Server Care Service' to conduct security checks and manage security history on their own.

Kim Jeong-sam, Director General of Information Security and Network Policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, “We will make active efforts to protect our companies’ important information and technological assets by strengthening the cybersecurity immunity of small and medium-sized enterprises and enhancing their response capabilities to security breaches.”
