TI Launches High-Speed CAN Transceiver for Body Networks with Integrated ESD Protection
Texas Instruments (TI) (President and CEO Kent Chon, www.ti.com/ww/kr ) September 2, 2013 – Texas Instruments (TI) (NASDAQ: TXN) today introduced two new 5V controller area network (CAN) transceivers that comply with the ISO 11898-2 and ISO 11898-5 standards for automotive networking. The new HVDA551-Q1 and HVDA553-Q1 integrate electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection up to 8 kV for contact discharge and up to 15 kV for air discharge, reducing overall system cost and size while providing design flexibility by offering two device configurations. The HVDA551-Q1 and HVDA553-Q1 meet rigorous U.S. OEM test requirements without external protection diodes and common-mode chokes. These new devices are suitable for applications such as body control modules, infotainment and advanced driver assist systems (ADAS), automotive gateway nodes, and rear camera modules. • Design flexibility: Designers can choose between two transceivers to best suit their system needs. The HVDA551-Q1 can switch the IO level voltage, and the HVDA553-Q1 provides a common-mode bus-stabilized output.
• System Protection: These devices provide under-voltage lock-out (UVLO) protection and dominant state timeout.
