STMicroelectronics Unveils Latest High-Performance 3-Axis MEMS Accelerometer LIS344AHH

September 5, 2013, Seoul – STMicroelectronics (ST), a global semiconductor company providing a wide range of electronic applications, has unveiled the LIS344AHH, a high-performance 3-axis MEMS accelerometer that offers high bandwidth, low noise, mechanical and thermal stability, and full scale of up to ±18g. This is expected to further enhance industrial control and shock monitoring, as well as gaming consoles, UIs, and augmented reality.
The high bandwidth of this new chip enables a high output data rate, allowing for the continuous and accurate measurement of rapidly changing acceleration. This improves the performance of industrial control systems, robotic equipment, and wearable electronic devices such as sports monitors. Furthermore, by integrating high data rates with low-noise operation, even minute amplitude movements can be monitored, enabling smoother and superior responsiveness in motion recognition-based control devices and supporting demanding applications such as virtual and augmented reality.
The LIS344AHH full-scale range is selectable up to ±6g or ±18g, offering improved performance compared to similar chips that provide a maximum full-scale range of ±16g. The device has a supply voltage range of 2.4V to 3.6V, includes built-in self-test functions, and is supplied in a 4mm x 4mm x 1.5mm 16-lead LGA-16 package.
