SKT and Verimatrix to Combine Remastering and Security Solutions for Old Content
Expanding global distribution practices for global content creators and distributors.

SK Telecom (CEO Yoo Young-sang) has promised to collaborate with global security solution provider Verimatrix through 'Supernova' to accelerate the overseas expansion of SKT's media technology to global customers and contribute to the globalization of Korean Wave content.

SK Telecom announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Verimatrix to collaborate on the remastering content business using the AI-based media quality improvement solution 'Supernova'.

'Supernova' is a solution that improves the picture quality of old videos or audio sources to high definition through De-oldify technology based on AI deep learning algorithms.

'Supernova' is being used in various fields, including broadcasting (MBC improving the quality of old content), public institutions (restoring Independence Hall of Korea records), and sports (SK Telecom's open metaverse live broadcast).

Verimatrix is one of the world's leading providers of content and application security solutions, with over 1,000 customers in 120 countries, including major telecommunications companies and content providers in Latin America and Europe.

SKT is in this collaboration Through this, old content owned by overseas broadcasters or content producers is remastered using Supernova technology.

Berrymatrix plans to provide security solutions and launch them in global markets including South America, Europe, and Asia.

The two companies also announced plans to introduce new solutions dedicated to real-time broadcasting, such as SaaS (Software as a Service).

SKT said that it plans to expand the distribution of remastered content by continuously promoting Supernova to global content producers and distributors together with Verimatrix, and also drive the entry of domestic content into overseas markets, creating a successful case of global distribution of remastered content.
