Infineon Supplies Next-Generation Security Chips for Singapore's Contactless E-Wallet and Transportation Applications
October 24, 2013, Seoul – Infineon Technologies (Korea Representative Director Seung-soo Lee) announced that it is supplying next-generation security chips for Singapore’s Contactless e-Purse Applications (CEPAS) cards and Limited Use Transit Tickets, which allow cashless payments for bus fares, taxi fares, parking fees, and retail services. Limited Use Transit Tickets utilize Infineon’s my-d Move, while the next-generation CEPAS cards utilize Infineon’s SLE 77 security controller. Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) launched CEPAS cards featuring Infineon chips in 2009 and has since issued approximately 18 million cards.
By leveraging SLE 77’s rapid implementation capabilities and superior performance, the Singapore Land Transport Authority was able to improve operational efficiency, passenger throughput, and the convenience and reliability of its ticketing system. For example, SLE 77’s highly reliable and flexible SOLID FLASH™ technology enabled more efficient processing, allowing for a reduction in certification turnaround time. SLE 77 has already been certified by the CEPAS Compliance Testing Centre (CCTC).

The SLE 77 security controller has obtained Common Criteria certification from the Federal Office for Security in Information Technology (BSI) in Germany and type approval from EMVCo, enabling it to be used in various types of applications. It also allows it to quickly keep up with the latest market trends, such as multi-application cards that integrate transportation, ticketing, and payment applications into a single bank card, microSD cards, and mobile phones, and enables it to operate seamlessly in various modes of transport when moving between different regions and regions.
