Synology Meets Ultra-Large and Edge Demands

Synology has unveiled a new system designed to meet the hyper-scale demands of enterprises and their edge storage needs.
Synology announced the Synology HD6500 and Synology RackStation RS422+ NAS/SAN systems on the 29th.
The HD6500 is a platform suitable for storing large amounts of data with multi-petabyte storage capacity, while the RS422+ provides essential storage and services for branch offices or small offices in a compact form factor.
Both devices are part of Synology's expanding family of powerful yet easy-to-use data management solutions based on DiskStation Manager (DSM).
The 4U, 60-bay HD6500 is designed to simplify large-scale storage by supporting up to 960TB per chassis, and can easily connect up to four additional 60-bay RX6022sas expansion units to store over 4PB of storage in a 20U space.
Sequential read performance of over 6,688 MB/s and sequential write performance of 6,662 MB/s are possible with large amounts of warm data. It is a very powerful solution for any project.
The compact 1U, 4-bay RS422+ can be utilized in compact edge-optimized solutions.
With a depth of just 33cm, the RS422+ is ideal for shallow rackmount enclosures and post-racks. Users requiring higher throughput can easily add 10GbE RJ-45 connectivity using the E10G22-T1-Mini network upgrade module.
Both the HD6500 and RS422+ are released with DSM 7.1, providing enhanced business file server, remote management, and backup capabilities.
Synology Drive and Hybrid Share support enable multi-platform file access, synchronization, and collaboration. Simultaneously, you can create an aggregated file portal via the SMB protocol, conveniently connecting multiple Synology systems virtually.
Synology's cloud-based Active Insight service has also been updated, adding convenient system and software update capabilities to its existing feature set, which includes performance, security, and backup monitoring.
Active Backup for Business (ABB) supports bare metal backup and restoration of entire Synology NAS/SAN systems, including DSM settings, applications, and user preferences for other NAS, along with DSM 7.1.

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
