The Seoul International Manufacturing Technology Show (SIMTOS 2022), held for the first time in four years due to COVID-19, is strengthening the competitiveness of domestic and international manufacturing technology by showcasing various exhibits reflecting smart manufacturing trends and providing a platform for expanding networks among manufacturing companies.

The largest domestic exhibition of manufacturing technology in Seoul (SIMTOS 2022), hosted by the Korea Machine Tool Industry Association (Chairman Kwon Young-doo), will be held from Monday, May 23 to Friday, May 27.

SIMTOS 2022 is being held as the largest in-person exhibition in Korea since COVID-19, with 854 companies from 29 countries participating in KINTEX Halls 1 and 2 with 4,825 booths. Over 8,000 products and technologies are displayed in the 7 specialized halls.

At KINTEX Exhibition Hall 1, under the themes of 'cutting' and 'digital manufacturing', there are the Metal Cutting and Mold Technology Hall, the Materials, Parts and Control Technology Hall, the Robotics and Digital Manufacturing Hall, the Tooling and Measurement Technology Hall, and the Additive Manufacturing Technology Hall.

In particular, SIMTOS 2022 provided an opportunity to explore robot-based automation and digital manufacturing systems and additive manufacturing technologies for the demand and supply industries, in line with the trend of digital transformation into smart factories.

Hwacheon Machine Tools Co., Ltd. in Exhibition Hall 1 introduced smart machines, various machine tools, and machining control software based on machining know-how. DN Solutions (formerly Doosan Machine Tools) held a ceremony to announce its new company name at the event and showcased the latest integrated manufacturing technology solutions.

Hyundai WIA showcased a 'Smart Manufacturing and Logistics Integrated Solution' based on robots and autonomous driving. It unveiled smart manufacturing and logistics robots, including collaborative robots and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), for the first time.

This is expected to contribute to manufacturing innovation and the establishment of a foundation for digital transformation in the machinery and metalworking industries.

Exhibition Hall 2 houses the 'Cutting and Welding Technology Hall' and the 'Press and Forming Technology Hall,' where visitors can view metal forming and welding technologies.

At this event, Trumpf Korea Co., Ltd. unveiled a differentiated portfolio including new laser processing technology, automation equipment, pipe processing machines, and welding cells, as well as newly launched smart factory solutions.

By implementing the Material Buffer, a hardware solution for smart factories, at the exhibition, a method for operating a sheet metal storage system for unmanned automation was presented. In addition, Oseon, a software solution that streamlines production processes and improves productivity, was explained directly through an exhibition and presentation.

This event will also feature 22 expert conferences over three days covering six themes. Through this, industry professionals are expected to gain insights into manufacturing innovation.

In his opening remarks, Kwon Young-doo, Chairman of the Korea Machine Tool Industry Association, said, “From today, the KINTEX exhibition hall will become a showcase for even smarter and more intelligent new technologies and products that will proactively respond to changes in the production and manufacturing technology environment,” adding, “I sincerely hope that the new products developed with hard work will shine through this exhibition, attract great interest from consumers, and create new markets.” Chairman Kwon added, “I hope this becomes an exhibition that satisfies everyone, where customers can find the optimal equipment to further upgrade their production lines and achieve sustainable growth.”
