Infineon's OPTIGA™ Trust security solution protects small electronic devices and accessories from product counterfeiting.
November 7, 2013, Seoul – Counterfeit products cause hundreds of billions of dollars in losses to businesses every year. Such counterfeiting is rampant not only in luxury goods and lifestyle products but also in small electronic devices and printer cartridges. Infineon Technologies (Korea CEO Seung-soo Lee) has launched the OPTIGA™ Trust authentication chip to protect manufacturers of electronic accessories and replacement parts from losses caused by counterfeiting. This product is also useful for consumers, as the OPTIGA™ Trust authentication chip can reduce the risk of damage to electronic devices caused by using poorly designed pirate products.

Provides excellent performance in a miniaturized size
OPTIGA Trust is a comprehensive solution consisting of chips and software that can be integrated into headphones, cartridges, and replacement parts, and authenticates these devices when connected to an end device. By using OPTIGA Trust, the end device can authenticate genuine products and reject counterfeit ones.
The OPTIGA Trust authentication chip offers the following advantages:
- Strong encryption security using asymmetric encryption (ECC: Elliptic Curve Cryptography)
- Space and cost savings as a single chip can replace conventional two-chip solutions.
