TI Korea (CEO Kent Chon, www.ti.com/ww/kr ) November 13, 2013 – TI (CEO Kent Chon) announced the release of the new C2000™ InstaSPIN-FOC (field-oriented-control)™ LaunchPad and the DRV8301 motor drive BoosterPack plug-in module. With this, TI is now able to provide a sensorless motor control system with comprehensive features for just $66.
Developing traditional sensorless motor control has been a complex and difficult task due to constraints on cost, time, and real-world applications. TI's InstaSPIN-FOC technology alleviates system complexity by incorporating key software sensor algorithms into on-chip ROM, making it easily accessible to developers of all levels. Furthermore, it reduces design time by enabling the identification, tuning, and efficient control of all types of 3-phase synchronous and asynchronous motors within minutes. The new $17 C2000 InstaSPIN-FOC Launchpad significantly lowers the barrier to entry for motor control development by including InstaSPIN-FOC technology in its onboard Piccolo™ F28027F MCU.
Offering a feature-rich motor kit for just $66
The compatible DRV8301 motor drive booster pack plug-in module ($49) provides a robust low-voltage, medium-current motor control solution, enabling the rapid development of applications ranging from 6V to 24V and up to 14A. It can also be used as a low-cost prototyping and evaluation tool for developing higher-power systems.
The DRV8301 Booster Pack provides a reasonable option to help developers get started with designing three-phase motor control solutions. Furthermore, it is currently the only motor driver booster pack designed and provided by TI, and it is specifically designed for use with the C2000 InstaSPIN-FOC Launchpad. If designers purchase this Launchpad and booster pack together, they can conveniently test and evaluate by combining motor control hardware with TI's InstaSPIN-FOC technology. TI's InstaSPIN-FOC technology includes complete hardware design files, debugging tools, and a GUI interface for designing household motors, fans, and pumps.
