STMicroelectronics Unveils Latest NanoPower OP Amp Optimized for System Power Consumption

November 18, 2013, Seoul – STMicroelectronics (ST), a global semiconductor company providing a wide range of electronic applications, has unveiled the latest nanopower OP amp 'TSU10X' series, part of its low-power OP amp (OP-Apms) family. These products offer ultra-low power consumption across the entire operating temperature range, enabling the optimization of power demand forecasting and battery life in designs where quiescent current is a major issue.
The 'TSU10X' series (TSU101, TSU102, TSU104) is available in single, dual, and quad configurations, respectively. Because it consumes less current than the typical self-discharge current of lithium-ion batteries, it enables long-term operation in small coin cells for various applications, such as energy harvesting systems, personal medical monitors, fire alarms, passive infrared detectors, wireless sensors, security cameras, and smart tags.
Within the usable temperature range, the maximum current is as low as 800nA at 1.8V and 850nA at 3.3V, respectively, and the average current consumption is available as an output of 508nA at 25°C and 1.8V. The maximum input offset voltage is 4.5mV, and it consumes an input bias current of 300pA. Additionally, the TSU10X series is a rail-to-rail input/output system with linearity where if the input is 1, the output is 1, operating in the range of 1.5V to 5.5V, and the typical gain-bandwidth product is 8kHz.
ST's TSU10x is part of the NanoPower comparison TS88x series and is currently available in SC70, SOT23-5, DFN8 2x2, MiniSO8, QFN16 3x3, and TSSOP14 packages depending on the configuration. Prices start at $0.50 per unit for orders of 1,000 or more.
