November 25, 2013 – Analog Devices ( www.analog.com , NASDAQ: ADI), a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal processing applications, has launched the ADuM144x family of digital isolators, the industry's lowest-power digital isolators. Based on ADI's proprietary iCoupler digital isolation technology, the ADuM144x operates on just 1 μW of power, consuming less than one-thousandth of the power of optocouplers or competitor digital isolators. Thanks to these low-power characteristics, the ADuM144x family is suitable for industrial and instrumentation systems such as 4–20 mA current loops, remote sensors, and eco-friendly systems that require high energy efficiency or rely on limited power sources like batteries.

The ADuM144x is a quad-channel data isolator available in three different channel configurations with a one-minute isolation safety rating of 2.5 kV rms. With an operating voltage range of 2.25 V to 3.6 V, it further lowers power limits and provides the lowest isolator operating voltage among products on the market. When operating at 2.5 V, the standby power supply current is less than 5 μA per channel, and when operating at 2 Mbps, the power supply current is less than 380 μA per channel. In power-saving mode, it demonstrates the industry's lowest power performance by lowering the current level to a minimum of 0.1 μA per channel, reducing the total isolator power consumption to 1 μW. The ADuM144x is the industry's smallest quad-channel digital isolator with 2.5kV rms isolation specifications, available in a 16-lead QSOP package, as well as industry-leading power saving features.

The ADuM144x family incorporates the same iCoupler chip-scale transformer technology used in ADI’s entire safety isolation family and in over one billion channels sold over the past decade. The ADuM144x in a 16-lead QSOP package is currently in mass production, and products with other packages, channel counts, and higher isolation specifications are scheduled to be released in the future.
