Keysight Technologies has announced an oscilloscope-based automotive protocol trigger and decode solution (D9010AUTP) to support engineers in simplifying development.

Keysight Technologies announced on the 19th that it has released an oscilloscope-based automotive protocol trigger and decode solution (D9010AUTP) related to CAN XL that helps engineers verify and debug low-speed automotive serial bus protocols and simplify the development and troubleshooting of systems including CAN/CAN FD (Flexible Data Rate) and CAN XL (Controller Area Network eXtra Long).

CAN XL is a third-generation CAN standard being developed by the CiA (CAN in Automation) group, which reliably improves the CAN FD protocol through increased payload data and faster bit rates.

The CAN XL data phase rate is specified to reach 10 Mbps or more depending on the transceiver function and physical layer component. CAN XL has two operating modes: high-speed mode and SIC mode (or low-speed mode).

Keysight's automotive decoder software correctly triggers and decodes SIC mode signals in the arbitrary phase and high-speed mode signals in the data phase. It also processes CAN XL protocols implemented with CAN HS/FD/SIC transceivers.

Keysight's D9010AUTP software is compatible with Keysight's Infiniium oscilloscopes when using software version 11.30 or higher (MXR/EXR/UXR models) and version 6.72 or higher (other Infiniium oscilloscope models).

Key advantages include oscilloscope configuration to display CAN, LIN, CAN-FD, CAN XL, FlexRay, and SENT protocol decodes within 30 seconds, access to various integrated protocol-level triggers, time savings and error resolution through packet verification at the protocol level, and troubleshooting a series of protocol problems by identifying root causes such as timing or signal integrity using a time-correlated view.
