Xilinx Launches Comprehensive Functional Safety Design Package for Smarter Factories and Medical Equipment
Xilinx Korea (General Manager Ahn Hung-sik) December 3, 2013 – Xilinx announced a comprehensive functional safety design package for industrial, automotive, medical, aerospace, and defense applications in accordance with IEC 61508 and ISO 26262 safety standards. The functional safety package includes TÜV SÜD-certified design methodologies that increase design productivity while reducing certification risk. From November 26 to 28, Xilinx showcased its all-programmable solutions for smarter factories and functional safety design packages at the Nuremberg Fair held in Nuremberg, Germany, at the SPS/ICP Drives booth #6-111.
Christoph Fritsch, Director of Industrial, Scientific and Medical Markets at Xilinx, stated, "In collaboration with TÜV SÜD, Xilinx is alleviating the burden on system design teams that must select system components and design methodologies compliant with existing industry standards while addressing functional safety design challenges." He added, "System designers using Xilinx's functional safety design flow solution can accelerate the certification process, reduce design costs, and deliver products that meet global standards."
Xilinx's certified functional safety design methodology enables system designers to bring highly differentiated and integrated safety-compliant solutions to market fastest. The IDF (Isolation Design Flow) and IVT (Isolation Verification Tools) use proprietary automation techniques to distinguish safety-critical and non-safety-critical functions within the same FPGA through physical domain isolation. Independent designs with isolated locations can be modified at any time without affecting other isolated domains. This reduces design complexity and development time.
