Although ICT exports in July 2022 decreased slightly compared to the same month of the previous year, the daily average export value recorded the highest performance among all July exports, achieving a surplus of $6.12 billion.

The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 12th that ICT exports in July 2022 recorded $19.34 billion, down 0.7% from the same month of the previous year.

Information and communication technology exports consistently accounted for more than 30% of total industrial exports, and semiconductors exceeded $10 billion for 15 consecutive months, contributing to the growth of overall exports.

Imports recorded $13.22 billion, an increase of 16.8% compared to the same month of the previous year.

Due to factors such as the insufficient number of working days in July and slowing global demand, among major items, semiconductors increased, while displays, computers and peripherals, and mobile phones decreased.

Semiconductor exports in July were 3.1% year-on-year It recorded an increase to $11.38 billion, surpassing $10 billion for the 15th consecutive month.

Memory semiconductors shifted to a downward trend for the first time in 23 months due to falling fixed transaction prices and reduced demand from downstream industries, while system semiconductors continued their growth driven by sustained demand for digital transformation, exceeding $4 billion for two consecutive months and recording double-digit growth for 16 consecutive months.

Display exports in July fell 4.7% year-on-year to $2 billion, with organic light-emitting diode (OLED) exports increasing slightly and liquid crystal display (LCD) exports decreasing.

Organic light-emitting diodes turned to growth, recording $1.25 billion, up 2.7% from the same month last year, driven by demand for mobile displays in preparation for the launch of new smartphones.

Mobile phone exports in July fell 29.2% year-on-year to $680 million due to reduced production, with both parts and finished products declining. However, exports of finished products to Europe increased due to the growing share of domestic smartphones in the European market.

Exports of computers and peripherals in July recorded $1.21 billion, a 21.9% decrease compared to the same month last year, marking a decline for the first time in 17 months as demand for IT devices decreased due to the global economic slowdown. In particular, Solid State Drives (SSDs) fell below $1 billion for the first time in 14 months due to reduced demand for their own products, recording $870 million, a 22.1% decrease year-on-year.

Exports to China, the United States, and the European Union recorded $8.35 billion, down 8.2% from the same month of the previous year, as factory shutdowns intensified due to the lockdown in the Shanghai region during the first half of the year. Exports to the United States also decreased overall; however, exports to Vietnam increased by 5.7% year-on-year to $3.1 billion, and exports to Europe increased by 12.9% year-on-year to $1.1 billion, maintaining a growth trend for 23 consecutive months, centered on mobile phones.
