December 12, 2013, Seoul – STMicroelectronics (ST), a global semiconductor company providing a wide range of electronic applications, is launching two new moisture-proof RF power transistors that enhance the robustness and reliability of applications operating in high-humidity environments.
The internal cavities of the two newly released 50V RF DMOS devices are filled with gel to protect the die from electro-migration, such as dendrite migration. Dendrite migration is a phenomenon that occurs in general-purpose ceramic packages due to a combination of high temperature, bias, and humidity. However, using gel-filled packages can reduce maintenance costs for applications operating in high-humidity environments.
ST's 150W SD2931-12MR and 300W SD4933MR provide cost-effective solutions for 50V industrial RF generators used in applications such as induction heating, CO2 laser beam sources, plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) sputtering, and solar cell manufacturing equipment.
In addition, the SD4933MR provides the industry's highest breakdown voltage of over 200V and has a load mismatch capacity of 65:1 in all phases, making it the most robust for design requirements.
