Freescale Announces Powerful High-Speed CAN Transceivers for Industrial and Automotive

December 18, 2013, Seoul, Korea – Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE: FSL, www.freescale.com ) announced a family of powerful CAN transceivers designed with high-speed performance and reliability to help manufacturers and system designers more easily meet increasingly stringent industrial and automotive safety requirements.
EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) are critical requirements in harsh industrial and automotive environments where a wide range of networked electronic systems and devices are in close proximity. The choke-free Freescale MC33901 and MC34901 CAN high-speed physical layer transceivers reduce overall system costs by providing excellent EMC performance and robust ESD endurance without the need for external components. These devices also offer extremely low standby currents as low as 8µA, along with fail-safe features that support system functional safety.

The MC33901 and MC34901 products convert digital protocol information into analog CAN communication on in-vehicle networks as well as long-distance CAN node interconnections for industrial applications. These devices are ideal for a wide range of fields, including safety-critical industrial motor control, factory automation, and industrial robotics systems, as well as automotive body electronics, powertrains, and infotainment systems. Both products meet the requirements of CAN FD (Flexible Data) applications and provide excellent performance at a transmission speed of 2 Mbps.
