(NASDAQ: SIMG, Country Manager Jong-Chan Moon), a leading provider of HD connectivity solutions, announced the release of mobile transmitter, bridge, and multimedia switch ICs as the industry's first 4K Ultra HD MHL® 3.0 solution. MHL is the leading standard technology that enables HD and 4K (UHD) connectivity to large-screen displays while charging mobile devices. This MHL 3.0 solution, offered for the first time by Silicon Image, is a comprehensive solution that enables mobile device manufacturers to deliver crisp 4K Ultra HD video resolution to displays while simultaneously transmitting USB data through the same micro USB connector.

MHL 3.0, with double the bandwidth compared to MHL 2.0, delivers a superior visual experience by providing 4K Ultra HD resolution and an expanded color gamut. Bidirectional data channels capable of simultaneous transmission with 4K video support high-capacity storage and high-speed peripheral connectivity for input devices such as touchscreens, keyboards, and mice.

The development of the MHL technology standard was led by Nokia, Samsung, Silicon Image, Sony, and Toshiba. The MHL Consortium, comprised of companies supporting the MHL standard, now includes nearly 200 adopters and members, including the world's largest mobile device and consumer electronics manufacturers. MHL-enabled products include smartphones, tablets, DTVs, monitors, projectors, A/V receivers, Blu-ray Disc™ players, cables, TV peripherals, adapters, and automotive peripherals. Since the first MHL-enabled devices were released to the public in 2011, the MHL product ecosystem has expanded rapidly, reaching a level today where it has secured over 300 unique products and an installed base of more than 400 million products in the market.
