December 24, 2013, Seoul – Altera Korea, the Korean subsidiary of Altera, a global programmable solutions company, (CEO Kim Dong-hun, www.altera.com) announced the winning teams of the Altera FPGA Design Contest, held for the first time in Korea.

This contest, as part of the Altera University Program, was designed to encourage Korean university and graduate students to design innovative SoPC systems using Altera FPGA, and to discover and motivate these students' creativity and FPGA design capabilities in SoPC system design.

The official award ceremony was held on December 23 at Lotte Hotel World, with total prize money of 15 million won. At the ceremony, award winners had the opportunity to present their projects, and related videos will be distributed through YouTube.

This contest was jointly hosted by Altera Korea and Axios, an authorized distributor of Altera. Any university or graduate student could participate individually or as a team. A total of approximately 25 universities, 60 teams, and approximately 170 students registered. After the first proposal review, DE1 development boards were provided to 35 teams. All individuals and teams submitted their final projects based on the DE1 by November 30, and the award ceremony for 3 winning teams and 5 honorable mention teams was held on December 23.
