Cybersecurity is becoming increasingly important, with cyberattacks estimated to cost $6 trillion in damage in 2021 and companies projected to lose 8.6% of their value after a security attack, regardless of size.

Edge-enabled software solutions provider Edgio has introduced its App Security web application security solution, focusing on the growing security market. Experts have suggested that this could provide a platform that is safe from cybersecurity threats.

Edgio held a media conference on the 17th and announced that it will target the domestic CDN and edge security market with its web application security and management solution, 'Edgio App Security.'

Ezio, a network transport company that acquired Edgecast and changed its name to Ezio in June, partners with over 20,000 major digital companies, including Amazon, Sony, and Disney, and handles over 5% of the world's internet traffic, including high-demand content.

Ezio's global edge platform offers over 250 Tbps of capacity, over 300 global points of presence (PoPs), and over 7,000 ISP connections. This represents an additional increase from the 200 Tbps capacity in June.

Richard Yew, director of security product management, said at the event that Ezio's App Security can provide users with edge-based web application and API solutions, along with best-in-class security and transport capabilities.

Market research data suggests that while the overall CDN market has recently contracted, new trends are showing strong growth in areas that provide added value, with the security market projected to grow 22% over the next five years. It was also revealed that security was recently ranked as a priority when considering CDN providers.

“While it’s impossible to achieve 100% security for a company’s data, it’s important to set reasonable expectations,” said Richard Yu, director. “Companies are focusing on prevention, but they will also need to pay attention to detection and response, and new security solutions will be needed to address new security vulnerabilities.”

'Ezio App Security' manages a powerful WAF (Web Application Firewall) from cybersecurity threats, provides protection from DDoS and bot attacks, and provides API protection (WAAP).

Key features that differentiate Ezio App Security include: Web Application and API Protection (WAAP), Ezio Advanced Bot Management, DDoS Protection, and compliance with global security regulations, including GDPR and CCPA.

Next, CEO Kim Jae-hyun discussed Ezio's Korean business updates and its three main product lines: AppOps, Delivery, and Streaming.

Edgio AppOps provides a suite of integrated cloud security, development, and CDN solutions, including app security, app edge, and app platform.

Edgio Delivery is an edge delivery platform that delivers at speeds of approximately 230 terabytes per second from over 300 global points of presence (PoPs).

Ezio Streaming (Ezio Delivery) offers the unique ability to capture usage data that can be used to continuously improve the viewer experience.

When asked about potential customers, an Ezio representative said, “Security is something that every company needs, not just new companies. “I think all companies that use existing security solutions are potential customers,” he said.

He also added that in the event of a disaster, such as the recent fire at Kakao Corp.'s data center, "we can route to backup plans at Ezio data centers located around the world, including Korea and the United States."
