[Korea Industry Fair] Successfully Strengthening the Future Competitiveness of the Machinery Industry

The '2022 Korea Industrial Fair', which showcases digital innovation technologies in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, has successfully concluded and established itself as Korea's leading exhibition of advanced industrial machinery technology.
Co-hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Korea Machinery Industry Promotion Association, and the Korea Software Industry Association, the Korea Industrial Fair took place at KINTEX from Tuesday, October 18th to Friday, October 21st. The Korea Industrial Fair, formerly known as the Korea Machinery Fair, was reborn as the Korea Industrial Fair in 2011. This year, 772 companies from 18 countries participated, with 992 booths.
A platform has been established to foster the growth of Korea's IT industry, including AI, cloud computing, 5G, and XR for data processing, storage, transmission, and visualization, as well as the advancement of the machinery and equipment industry.
This year's exhibition was held simultaneously online and offline, and consisted of a metaverse exhibition that integrated online and offline, hardware and software, and the real and virtual, including the concepts of digital twins and data technology.
Major exhibit items include digital manufacturing equipment and machine tools, smart factories, automation, and robotics, precision measurement technology, future energy technology, smart plants, and IT technology. It covers everything from traditional machinery such as cutting, pressing, and sheet metal processing to cutting-edge technology products such as IoT, AI, and robotics.

Deokil Industry Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of precision automotive parts molds, has successfully domestically produced seat switch modules through in-house research and development. The company, which holds a 90% share of the domestic automotive seat switch module market, announced that it exhibited products such as microswitches and interior lamps.
Hanshin Co., Ltd. has domestically produced INDEX, enabling cost savings and higher precision when building automated equipment for domestic manufacturers. The company announced that it will exhibit precision reducers, piezoelectric vibrators, and flexible feeders at this exhibition.
Hyundai Doosan Infracore Co., Ltd. is a domestic machinery company that covers all business areas, including construction equipment and engines, and exhibited excavators, dozers, and an integrated smart construction platform.
Keyence Korea Co., Ltd. provides sensors, measurement systems, laser marking machines, microscopes, and vision systems for the factory automation field. At the booth, a new lineup of microscopes and measuring instruments were introduced and an operating experience was demonstrated.
In addition, Sechang International Co., Ltd., Samjeong E&C, Alten Korea, Megazone Cloud, Siemens, Otech Carrier, and Cricket Beomyang Cooling participated with on-site booths.
As a side event of the exhibition, the 'Digital-Based Manufacturing Service Conference' was held, where representatives from industry, government, academia, and research institutes discussed ways to strengthen the future competitiveness of the machinery industry through manufacturing-service convergence.
Meanwhile, the Korea International Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Exhibition (HARFKO) was held jointly, and domestic and foreign manufacturers of heating and cooling equipment, such as LG and Siemens, participated, allowing visitors to view various equipment related to facilities, such as control and measuring equipment and air conditioning equipment.
LG Electronics attracted the attention of many visitors by showcasing its home appliances, including air conditioning and heating equipment and system air conditioners.
In his congratulatory remarks, First Vice Minister Jang Young-jin encouraged the hard work of those in the machinery industry, while emphasizing that in order to advance the manufacturing industry, our machinery industry also needs to become more intelligent and have higher added value. He said that the government will “actively support the industry’s active investment and innovation efforts through internalizing core technologies in machinery equipment, securing future advanced manufacturing AI convergence technologies, and expanding manufacturing service business models.”

삼성전자, EHS 히트펌프 보일러 광주서 국내 생산…연 10만 대 규모
삼성전자가 난방 전기화 추진에 맞춰 광주사업장에서 EHS 히트펌프 보일러 국내 생산 체제를 구축한다. 2,132㎡ 규모 전용라인에서 이달 시험생산을 시작해 9월 말 본격 양산에 돌입할 예정이며, 연간 10만 대 이상 생산 능력을 갖춘다. 투입 전력 대비 약 5배 열을 생성하는 이 제품은 계절성능계수 4.9를 기록하며 화석연료 기반 보일러 대비 에너지 효율이 높고 탄소 배출을 줄인다.

한국재료연구원이 전자파 차폐와 적외선 스텔스 기능을 동시에 구현하는 탄소나노튜브 하이브리드 필름을 개발했다. 머리카락 굵기의 1/5 수준의 초박막으로 전자파를 99.9999999% 이상 차단하면서 강철 수준의 강도를 갖춘 이 복합소재는 미래 무기체계, 항공우주, 5G·6G 통신기기 등에 광범위하게 적용될 것으로 기대된다.

[Interview] Park Ji-yong, Branch Manager of Nozomi Networks, "Korea entering full-scale OT security adoption phase"
The domestic OT security market has seen significantly heightened awareness centered on large enterprises, and POC demand is also increasing. In particular, OT security diagnostics are essential for enterprises to identify vulnerabilities without productivity degradation, and demand is growing across hospitals, pharmaceuticals, power generation, and manufacturing sectors. In this context, Nozomi Networks' Arc-Embedded, which embeds security functions directly into PLCs to reduce blind spots, and Vantage IQ, which shifts from alarm-centric to decision-centric operations enabling non-specialists to perform advanced analysis, are receiving spotlight as key safety assets in OT security.
